Lucknow: Over 42,000 seats of B.Tech have remained vacant during the Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) counselling, official sources said here.

"Of the total available 91,000 B.Tech seats, only 49,000 could be filled in the counselling that concluded yesterday. There are 42,000 B.Tech seats, which are still vacant," a senior official said.

UPTU will be holding special counselling to fill these vacant seats.

The exorbitant fees charged by private colleges and lack of infrastructure were stated to be the reasons behind disenchantment of students from B. Tech course.
