Chandigarh: Police presented the accused in the case pertaining to rape of a 17-year-old on July 8 before a local court and sent him to three days’ police remand. Accused admitted to his crime during interrogation, while his accomplice is still absconding.
The accused, identified as Parminder Singh alias Harman, was arrested from Sirhind in Punjab after raids, while co-accused Sunny is still absconding.
Sohana police station SHO Jarnail Singh said the accused would be questioned further and efforts made to effect recovery of a mobile phone that was allegedly used to make a digital video.
Victim had alleged that on July 8 afternoon she was abducted by Parminder - who runs a cloth shop in Sirhind - and taken to a flat in Jal Vaayu Vihar, Sector-68, where Sunny was present. She had alleged that both accused raped her repeatedly and she later walked from Sector 68 to her home. Initially, she kept quiet as the accused had threatened her but she informed her mother after the accused started demanding money on the pretext of making the video of her rape public.
