Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu today accused Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy of trying to pert people's attention from critical issues by purchasing opposition party MLAs and spreading rumours about defection of political leaders into the Congress.
Addressing party workers after accepting former home minister T Devender Goud back into party fold at the NTR Trust Bhavan here, Naidu said the Chief Minister was playing dirty politics to weaken the opposition parties.
"Rajasekhara Reddy is behaving in a most undemocratic fashion. It has become imperative for us to wage a concerted fight to thwart the dubious plans of the wily Chief Minister," Naidu said.
He asked party workers to forget the 2009 elections as a 'bad dream' and work with renewed vigour for the TDP's success in future.
Devender Goud, along with another former minister E Peddi Reddy, quit the Praja Rajyam Party a couple of days ago and formally returned to the parent Telugu Desam Party.
Naidu said only the TDP could effectively counter the anti-people, anti-democratic policies of the Congress.
